Addressing this challenge will require substantial and breakthrough innovation across a wide number of industrial sectors that promise to disrupt existing technologies and business models, ushering in cleaner industries that do not emit greenhouse gases.
Decarbonization, LLC is a research and consulting firm focused on enabling innovation, product, process development, and commercialization of decarbonization technologies across six broad sectors: materials, energy, industrials, transportation, buildings, and agriculture.
- Founder’s Background
The founder of Decarbonization LLC holds a Ph.D. and MS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island, an MBA in Strategy & Innovation from Vanderbilt University, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). Before launching his corporate career, he was a Post-doctoral Associate at MIT under the renowned Prof. Robert A . Brown, who recently retired as President of Boston University. He is an inventor or co-inventor on 21 patents awarded or pending, has published 14 papers in prestigious journals, and has been active in the development of Intellectual Property (IP) and Strategy (Business, Innovation, and/or R&D) as well as advising startups.
Prior to launching Decarbonization LLC, he accumulated over 30 years of experience in senior leadership and executive roles in Research, New Product/Process Development, Technology Innovation, Market Development, and Commercialization with several large and mid-size companies, delivering over $100 million of impact to date. With his innovative thinking, he led the development of novel products, processes, materials, and technology platforms that have enabled organizations to grow their businesses by fulfilling unmet needs of their customers, uncovering new markets and applications. Well-traveled with a strong global network in the US, Asia, and Europe, he has successfully managed cross-functional global teams and leveraged open innovation, forging and utilizing external partnerships effectively throughout his professional career to expeditiously take a concept through development, market launch, and commercialization using the Stage-Gate discipline.
He specializes in green/biobased materials and sustainable fuels, biopolymers, sorbents, nonwovens, disinfection, air/liquid filtration, clean energy, energy storage, carbon capture & sequestration, recycling technologies, and pertinent manufacturing processes. He has frequently consulted with leading organizations on R&D, assessment, techno-commercial feasibility, and scale-up of cutting-edge technologies; monetization of intellectual property; collaborating with universities, independent labs, and innovation hubs, and establishing strategic partnerships for research, development, and commercialization of novel products and technologies.
He has recently given invited talks on “Strategies for Decarbonizing India by 2050” and “Biobased Materials: Vegan Leather” and taught short courses on “Decarbonization Overview: Potential Pathways and Enabling Technological Innovations for Net Zero Carbon” and “How to Build and Foster an Innovation Mindset”. He has served as an adjunct faculty member at Lakeland University since 2006.- Mission Statement
